Welcome, and thank you for visiting Your Pace Therapy.
In-person Counsellor & Psychotherapist in Eastbourne, Sussex, & Online throughout the UK
Welcome to Your Pace Therapy.
My Counselling and Psychotherapy journey began when someone in crisis reached out to me. I wasn't a counsellor at the time, but listened, empathised and was present in that moment. They later told me it was the first time they'd ever felt heard, understood and held without judgment. This moment in time taught me the significance of listening and inspired me to pursue Person-Centred Counselling, which aligns with my values.
I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Providing both In-person and Online Counselling and Psychotherapy to adults throughout Eastbourne, Sussex and the UK.
Guided by the ethos of the Person-Centred Approach and working towards an integrated practice, I can also introduce tools into our work to support goal-oriented outcomes, as directed by you. Every individual is unique; there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, issues or relationships. We explore and discover what works best for you at your pace.
I'm a divorced, proud mum of three, love nature, history, medieval castles, architecture, and going on long walks with my two Cavachon dogs. I have personal lived experience of neurodivergence and its challenges, have worked with neurodivergent clients and wrote my BSc Dissertation around Neurodivergence and Diversity. I have a strong passion for helping people empower themselves.

As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I offer a calm, welcoming and confidential space where you can talk openly and honestly, without fear of judgement, pressure or repercussions.
Person-Centred Therapy is a talking therapy approach that places you at the centre of the therapeutic process. It gives you the time and space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and anything that may be affecting your life. Together, we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, building an honest, trusting and supportive relationship based on empathy, acceptance and understanding. I will listen without judgment and support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and finding your own way forward.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a collaborative talking therapy that offers the same welcoming, confidential space without judgment. It teaches you practical skills to manage difficult thoughts and emotions, change unhelpful behaviours, and develop healthier ways of coping.
Working towards an integrated practice and working collaboratively, I can offer CBT under the guidance of Supervision alongside my ongoing CBT Diploma training.
I work with adults aged 18+ from all backgrounds, circumstances, and walks of life. I welcome and support people of all genders and identities, adult ages, cultures, religions, races, sexualities, financial circumstances, employment status, class, education levels, neurodivergence, and disabilities.
I have lived experience of neurodivergence, alongside professional experience of working with neurodivergent clients in my counselling practice. This has given me a personal and professional understanding of some of the different ways neurodivergence can shape a person's experiences, relationships, emotions and sense of self. I recognise that every neurodivergent person is different, and I don't approach neurodivergence through a one-size-fits-all lens.
My work is informed by both my lived experience and my clinical experience, while remaining within my professional scope of practice. Where appropriate, we can also explore how neurodivergence may intersect with anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, life transitions and other areas of difficulty.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or emotionally exhausting. Therapy can offer time away from everyday life, providing a supportive space to slow things down and explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences more deeply. This journey can help you gain greater self-awareness, understanding, and clarity as you navigate through what you're experiencing.

How do I know if counselling/psychotherapy is right for me?
There is no particular way you need to feel or be before starting counselling/psychotherapy. If something is affecting your wellbeing, relationships or day-to-day life, it may be worth exploring. An initial conversation can give you an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for and decide whether counselling feels right for you.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what has brought you to therapy. We can talk about what you would like support with, what you hope to gain from therapy and how we might work together. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions and decide whether you feel comfortable continuing.
How long does Counselling/Psychotherapy last?
This varies from person to person. Some people find that a relatively short period of counselling is helpful, while others benefit from longer-term psychotherapy support. We can discuss your needs and review how things are going as we work together.
How often would I have Therapy?
Sessions are commonly held weekly, although this can vary depending on your circumstances, and what we agree together.
Are Counselling and Psychotherapy sessions confidential?
Counselling and Psychotherapy is a confidential service, and what you discuss is kept private. There are some important exceptions, which will be explained clearly at the beginning of counselling.
Is Counselling and Psychotherapy available online?
Online counselling can provide a convenient and accessible way to receive support from your own home or another private space. Sessions can take place by secure video link, subject to suitability and availability.
Can I have face-to-face Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Yes, face-to-face sessions may be available depending on the location and appointment availability. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
How much does Counselling and Psychotherapy cost?
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration and cost £55 per session.
If you're claiming Universal Credit please ask about reduced cost counselling when making an enquiry.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can contact Your Pace Therapy or any private counsellor directly without a GP referral. If you are receiving support from your GP, psychiatrist or another healthcare professional, it can sometimes be helpful to discuss counselling with them as well.
Will I be judged during counselling?
No. Counselling and Psychotherapy provides a respectful, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your experiences. You do not need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling.
What if I don't know what to talk about?
That's completely okay. You do not need to prepare everything in advance or know exactly what you want to say. We can take things at your pace and begin with whatever feels most important to you.
Is counselling and psychotherapy suitable for everyone?
Counselling and psychotherapy can be helpful for many people, but it is not always the most appropriate form of support in every situation. If I feel that another service or professional would better meet your needs, I will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, suggest other sources of support.
What if I need urgent help?
Counselling and Psychotherapy is not a crisis emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical assistance, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis but are not in immediate danger, you can contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option where available. You can also contact Samaritans on 116 123, free of charge, at any time of day or night.
